our pooches

it's very hard for me to say that eric and i don't have any children yet, because to be honest, deep down to the core of my heart, i believe we already have two.

almost one year ago exactly, we brought home the first love of our married life, lily.  she definitely has some german shepherd in her, and we're pretty sure the rest is border collie.

we had gone to a shelter to see a dog i had found on petfinder and ended up falling in love with her instead.  her name at the time was bessy.  seriously?!  obviously that had to go, and obviously, she is a lily.  just look at her and you'll see it.

one of the first major decisions eric and i made as a couple was that eventually, we would have two dogs.  i needed a shelter dog because, let's face it, every pooch deserves a good home.  eric, on the other hand, had to have a purebred german shepherd.  he had one in college that he absolutely fell in love with before she got hit by a car at six months (rip casey jones).  so almost a year after lily, we added to our numbers one purebred, five-week-old german shepherd named titan.

immediately, it was puppy love for the two of them.  they play together constantly, share a large dogbed, and have been caught, on more than one occasion, sitting side-by-side in the backyard.

these dogs are our family.  lily is my princess, the lover of the two.  she's a 45 pound dog that loves to be held.  if there's a lap available, she's in it, whether she's invited or not.  she likes to spend a lot of her time hanging out between our front window and the curtain, making sure that no squirrels try to invade our home.

titan is eric's little loud-mouth punk, said in the most loving way possible.  he started showing off his voice the day we brought him home and fully believes that if he barks loud enough, he may be able to kill the vacuum cleaner.  he eats toys, grows like a weed, follows lily like she's the ruler of the house and manages to tug at our heart strings every time he cocks his head to the side when we talk to him.  he's 100% puppy.

having two dogs has created such a fun dynamic and i'm completely content with just the four of us being a family...for now.
