11/30: valentine's mush

sweater: Banana Republic; skirt: thrifted; shoes: Bandolino; coat: Guess; scarf: Target; belt: Forever21; tights: ?
last night, the hubs and i had a wonderful dinner on the town to celebrate this day of love since we have Young Life on the actual vday.  my dinner couldn't have represented the good old US of A any better, as it consisted of salmon (innocent enough)...wrapped in bacon (uh oh)...smothered in hollandaise sauce (oy vey).  add on to that a salad, veggies, dirty rice, half of a dessert and an espresso martini, and i rolled out of the joint feeling about as round as Cupid himself.

i have to say, i'm not afraid to get mushy on my blog.  while i do enjoy this whole 30 for 30 bit, what i love most about blogging is the idea that my thoughts and feelings in this moment will be preserved for me to reflect on down the line.  that being said, my husband is an excellent date.  i had so much fun with him last night, from being cutesy and romantic to laughing to the point of tears.  it's dates like last night's that solidify our wonderful friendship.

did i mention that he asked me to stuff the bread in my purse?  and while i know they would have been happy to give us a bag to take it home, i obliged.  this would be the laughing-to-the-point-of-tears part of the evening, as the two tables closest to us were only about two feet away, and because, hi, who does this?  it made a nice little edition to hub's breakfast this morning, and i was totally the hero.

happy valentine's day to my husband, best friend and partner in crime.  i couldn't possibly be more in love with you.

breton stripes party day

today i'm linking up to Everybody, Everywear to show off muh stripes along with a lot of other fabulous ladies.

 shirt:  thrifted, unknown ($1)
cardigan:  thrifted, express
tank:  buckle
khakis:  jc penney
shoes:  thrifted, st. john's bay
necklace:  thrifted, unknown
belt:  thrifted, unknown
hair accessory:  me

can i just say how nice it was this morning to wake up and know the piece that my outfit was supposed to revolve around?  i had fun with this, and i've been itching all day to finally get home and post some pics.  i didn't realize until just now in my breakdown how much of my outfit was thrifted.  i wish i could remember how much everything cost, but the inspiration piece being only $1 is pretty awesome in itself.  i'm not so sure that these would qualify as breton stripes, as i think they're a bit too fine, but it counts, right?

see that hair up there?  i will never take a functioning hair dryer for granted again.  mine pooped out on me monday morning and the past two days, i've resorted to sitting inches away from a space heater for a good twenty minutes to dry.  after embracing dealing with my natural frizz all day yesterday, i couldn't bear another curly day.  showering last night wasn't an option either, because guess who actually managed to roll out of bed this morning at five to P90X?  that's right, this girl.

i totally survived rocked it.  eat my shorts, chest & back workout.  i chewed you up and spit you out.

doggy silhouettes

last week, John and Sherry over at Young House Love hosted a giveaway from Nella Designs that left me absolutely pining.  as one of only 3,630 entries, i totally thought the odds were working in my favor.  so you can imagine my surprise and disappointment when i wasn't the winner.

can i have one for every room, please?

i would love to purchase a custom silhouette from Nella Designs, but my pockets are a bit shallow right now, at least when it comes to purchasing things for my closet and our home.  so i decided to have a crack at it myself.  surely it can't be hard.  hmmm...now what is it that all of these tools in Photoshop do?

clearly i had no idea what i was doing.  luckily for me, the internet is a beautiful thing.  all i had to do was search for "silhouette in Photoshop" and i was led here.  and when i had no idea how to use the pen tool?  oh, looky here.

after just a couple hours of playing around, here's what i ended up with:

not too shabby, right?  i have plans to hang these in some white 8"x10" frames in our living room.  i want to do one of eric and i, too.  yeah, and then i think i'll get one of the big cardboard letters from Joann and cover it with a printed fabric to hang beside them.  i totes just thought of that while i was typing it out.  genius, i tell you.  our cute little "A" family.

what about all of my favorite bloggers in the whole world?  what do you have in the works right now?

btw - i realize my blog is having an identity crisis.  bear with me, please, and i'll be sure to explain later.
